Hi guys, I have a couple of filters (screw in kind) already. I now have the mounting and 1 nd filter (0.9). I was wondering if someone could give me, a not too long list of the most common nd grads and nd filters they would recommend me to purchase to do landscape photography.

I have looked and there just seems to be so many available, im not really too fussed about the coloured ones really, I was more thinking the grey ones (although if someone thinks a specific colour is recommended then thats ok).

I would appreciate some help, just so that I can get my hands on what I need and then I can start doing what I want to do.

Most usefull ND grads are a 0.6 (2stop) hard grad and a ND 0.9 (3stop) soft grad, might even add the ND 0.6 soft grad too depending on what your shooting.

I would also add a solid ND 0.9 filter, I would also buy a Hitech pro stop 10, i might be wrong but i dont think cokin do one.

Also a screw in circular polariser pref a good make like hoya pro digital 1.
 
I have a set of 0.3/0.6/0.9 hard grads and they're great for landscapes.

I also have the hitech 10-stop ( actually, it's just over 11 from my calculations ). It gives a very blue cast but can be easily sorted
 
I've got soft and hard grads in 1,2 and 3 stop strengths but TBH I could get away with a 2 and 3 stop hard and a 2 stop soft.

I also get a lot of use out of a Hitech 3 stop reverse grad, ideal for sunrises and sunsets.

In terms of solid ND, a 3 stop and if funds run to it a 10 stop would be my recommendations.

Finally a CPL to go with the set and you'll be sorted, Kood make a P series CPL which drops into your filter holder behind the filters (eg closest to the lens). That way you can use a CPL in addition to other filters.
 
Does the Hitech fit the cokin adapter?

I just bought the soft grads sets and 72 and 77mm adapters

Yes it does - mine is just a cheap metal holder and it fits in fine
