Ok, so I have an upcoming trip to Cambodia in 2 weeks, and im going to visit Angkor ***. I expect the sun to be quite harsh, so Im assuming I would need some sort of ND Grad filter to help maintain the quality of the sky in the photo? Is this correct?

My question relates to screw in ND filters. With my camera lens and subsequently attached filter rotating when focusing, doesnt this pretty much render the screw in type useless, as the 'graduated' part of the lens would never be level with the horizon/where land and sky meet?

Im on a budget so what would you suggest is the easiest way to maintain nice looking skies. I have looked at the other type of Cokin mounts, but they seem too expensive for me at the moment.

I have a D3100 with 18-55mm VR lens.....

Try not shooting towards the sun. If the sun is behind/above you, you won't need any grads.

If you're shooting in lowlight conditions (sunrise/sunset) then a grad is advised but what type is up to you.
