Not sure if this is the correct section, if not then sorry Mods.

So, i'm interested in getting some ND filters to enable me to do some more long exposures during the day, while still maintining a good depth of field.

Where do i start ?

I know a ND4 filter reduces by 2 f-stops. what ND filter would reduce f-stops by around 8 - 12 stops ??
Anyone do this sort of shooting, what ND filter do you use ?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated :)

Cheers,

Thanks for that, i seen that on the net.
Think i'm starting to understand it now, maybe i should go for a filter with a filter optical density of 1.8 and one with 3.0 ?

Cheers,

I just recently got a 10 stop (B&W ND110) and took it for a test run yesterday....

Nice shot, pity the boat bottom left moved so much.
I can't see the data on that pic, what was the light like (looks like a bright day)
What was the ISO, time and aperture?

Thanks for all the feedback :)

Biermann & Weber ;).

No, their not a pair of superheros (although it is pronounced, "beerman"), just the guys who started B&W optics.

f22, IS0 200, 20secs
It was taken at 6pm ish so while it was bright, the sun was low in the sky.
