Whilst my need isn't strictly wildlife I thought it may be best posting this in here. I am looking for recommendations for good quality and ideally inexpensive trap cameras. Ideally with long battery life and essential they are weatherproof. The more discreet the better too. Also if anyone knows of good secondhand sources for these I'd be very grateful.

TIA.

For 'discrete' you'll need the 'no glow' type infrared LED illuminator ones, as the 'low glow' ones may well draw attention to themselves with their dull red glow. A fast trigger time is an important consideration too (ideally 0.2 second or less). Unfortunately, cheap ones tend to have slower trigger times and low-glow LEDs.

So if you want something covert and likely to capture what triggered it most of the time, then you'll probably be chasing rainbows unless you spend around £200+. http://www.uttings.co.uk/p126080-bu...aggressor-no-glow-camo-bn119877/#.Wt3v1eSG-Uk If you do find something cheap that fits the same spec then let me know! Oh, and for longer battery life try the lithium type batteries (not rechargeable) rather than Alkali type ones, as I've been told that the lithium ones are better suited to the power drain characteristics of trail cams.

That looks ideal, I'm sure it'll do the job for you, keep me posted on progress. Nature Spy are specialists in the subject, I went on a training workshop run by James a year or so ago and found it very interesting and informative; he's working with camera traps every day so he should know what he's talking about. (y) Nice to know they're selling camera traps at competitive prices too, I'll bear that in mind when I buy another one and give them a try, I could do with a better one. :)

This one works ok, I've had mine for a few weeks now, had it out in all weathers without a glitch, shoots video and takes ok photo's but its not in the same league as the expensive Bushnel's etc.
