hiya guys and girls im due to take a photos for a christening end of next month and need some help.

I was wondring if you have any tips for taking photos of the groups in natural light? i wont be able to use a flash due to mine having a mind of its own atm and playing up on me!

I might have to postion the groups with there backs to the sun due to the location if so what would you recomend?

I will be using a 350d and a 17-50 2.8 tamron aslo have my 70-200 L F4 but wont be using that for the groups

any help would be great

Thanks

My first thought would be you really need that flash especially if you anticipate taking photo's with the sun backlighting the group! You will lose all detail in the background with the sky being totally blown.

I would, if faced with this scenario with no flash, keep the sky well out of the photo's! find a neutral background with some shade from the direct sunlight!

Hmmmm, I see a slight problem on the horizon. If you can't use flash during the ceremony (and yours is out of action) you may struggle to get anything like a useable shutter speed in the location.

I did a wedding today and even at ISO 1000 and 1250 I was struggling to get the shutter speed up. Time to break out some primes. With the 85mm f1.8, a 35mm f2 and the 70-200mm f2.8 I can pretty much cope but if the light is poor you either need to go below f2.8 or introduce more light.
