A photographic opportunity for free-

National Trust to give Britain a spring bonus

We're giving everyone in the country a bonus this spring by opening our doors for free on the weekend of 20-21 March 2010.

The ‘Bonus Time’ initiative, launched by the Trust’s Director General, Fiona Reynolds and Chairman, Simon Jenkins, is a spring gift to the nation and offers everyone the perfect excuse to get out in the fresh air and discover the great outdoors.

I believe some NT properties can be a bit iffy regards photography, best to check in advance if your main purpose is to get some good photos.

Interesting use of the word "Britain" seeing as it doesn't include National Trust for Scotland properties......

Aren't they two different organisations?

Anyway, you could always visit an English NT site :)

Niggling aside.
It's still a fantastic opportunity to see some great places for free.:)

AFAIK pretty much can photograph what you want outside and in gardens etc, but generally photography is banned indoors.

We've been members for years now, and I did ask why that was - basically, and I paraphrase, "To stop you casing the joint!" - nothing to do with a bit of flash fades a 400 yr old painting or whatever............

I was talking to a guy from our camera club today and he seems to think that the Nat T has changed their policy and that you can photo in doors so long as you don't use flash or a tripod.

Been to Wallington Hall today and was allowed to photo indoors without flash.

Went to riddlesden hall in Keighley, saved a tenner! (which paid for a KFC!) as the queue for the tearoom was quite long. Photography is not allowed in the hall. We had a good look around and it took about 1 hour and 10 minutes. A pleasant enough place. Apart from the outside of the house theres not much to take photo`s of!
