National competition (?).....does anyone try their 'luck' ?

Am I being a bit thick here?

I've never understood why you need to buy 'entry credits', as they put it, to enter the competition.

Anyone able to shed any light as to why?

Nope ... Have you seen my work ...?

I do look at winning images though.

Many competitions are essentially run as businesses, so the cost of entry (often along with sponsors, books etc) are to cover the running costs.

Some of the wedding ones are fascinating, you can effectively pay for awards.

I only enter the IAP (Automotive) Competition as I know of and respect the judges. £3 an entry if I remember correctly, a lot of work/money goes into hosting the site, admin behind the scenes, winners evening etc.

I've often been tempted, but often, when you dig into the T+Cs of competitions, they turn out to be image grabs. Not saying that's the case here but it does put me off generally.

I got bitten once, twice shy now. ;)

I will take a look at the T+Cs for this one tomorrow.

I had a look at the T+Cs, I don't see anything scary in them regarding this one. Winning and placed images will of course be published.

:)
