Nikon D800 and various zoom lenses used with sennheiser MKE400 mike with mike extn lead.
. The problem as I have mentioned before is about using auto zoom and the clicking the camera/lens makes when actual zooming during panning.
So to use auto focus on the camera and the lens set on A/M I use an extrnl mike with extn lead. You may get away with the camera on auto focus and the lens on manual or visa versa but it is not recommended
Yes one could use a radio mike but if money is tight as it is with me, so this is the alternative I came up with. In the video below you will see the picture jerk as the camera re-focuses but that is easier to overcome in post processing than an annoying click click click.
Did this from closeup to distance as an extreme example. No more clicking sound

Hope this is of some help
