im new to all this so any suggestions weelcome, looking to spend around 1-150 ish

Cool thanks for that link, now new question iv now got the funds for an sb600 to use as my on camera flash, would i be able to use this as a master with YongNuo YN465 at a later date, or do my flashes hae to match

Hi Paul

Your flashes don't have to match but it is best to ensure they are all the same colour temp

I have a Canon 430 EX II and a Yongnuo YN465 (Nikon fit). Both work well as Off Camera Flash with wireless remote triggers (Yongnuo RF-602)

I think I'll get 2 more YN465's which will do me until I get studio lights

The Canon will be used for any TTL shooting on camera.

The YN flashes don't work as iTTL slaves off camera, so they will be fully manual (you have to adjust it on the flash and shoot in M mode).

For a <150 budget and product photos, I'd get 2x flashes and wireless triggers, then build your own light tent for small objects. The YN RF-602 is a good trigger, just get 2 receivers.

As far as flashes go, if you can stretch to a SB600, then that would be a good primary flash. The second flash doesn't have to be iTTL so it can be a cheap YN-460 II for example, unless you specifically want a backup iTTL flash. They can't be used together as a 2 flash setup in iTTL mode because the none of the YNs support Nikon's wireless iTTL.

If SB600 is out of reach, then a YN-465. It will do iTTL on camera or with the off-camera cord but not wirelessly.

I have the new YN-560 myself for a second flash, it's fully manual but has a lot of power and an optical slave built in for a reasonable price.

cool thanks for the info, just bought the sb600 :D

once funds allow il order a yn465 and an optical slave..

Thanks again
