my new win 8 pc,problem CANON 5D

I got a new i5 processor win 8 pc,installed all the drivers i could find for my canon 5D MK1,but the camera is not showing up in my pc after connecting the usb cable,re-started the pc after installation,nay ideas?.:|

is there actually a win8 driver available from canon?

if not, time to get yourself a card reader.

I was wondering that,so if i bought a card reader to plug into a usb that should work?

On Canon download, there's a USB WIA driver available, maybe that's it?

I always use a card reader have one built in to my PC find it much better then a lead

The problem was my old pc died on me,so i had to get a new pc which did not have a cf card reader,anyway i have ordered a multi card reader so that should solve it,i hope.
It does take sd for my G1X though.
