Do you ever find that your SD cards are fractionally different sizes? My last one got jammed in the slot of both my cameras and needed teasing out gently with the tip of a Stanley blade. I managed to get it to click in the slot eventually, but it's prone to wedging in and you have to be vary careful it doesn't go past the locking point and get stuck. It's also tighter in the card reader.

Holding them together I can't feel a difference. They both came from the same seller (Amazons Choice seller) Is this a common issue?

I've not seen that but I do have batteries that wont fit in some devices.

It's almost as if there's no quality control and no feedback and no one cares. Perish the thought.

Out of curiosity what make are they and are they UHS 1 or 2 type ?

FWIW I have only ever bought SanDisk and don't recall the sort of issue you mention requiring leverage with a knife blade.

PS I have bought them from Amazon but only as "sold by Amazon" never a third party merchant there.

Are they genuine SD cards or fake ones of which there are many on the internet? Only twice had sandisk card come apart but that was after years of use so can't complain.

I'm beginning to think that these may be dodgy. Clearly Amazon choice is no indication of quality.

I have some of that variant and they fit my cameras and reader without issue compared edit ~ comparable to earlier ones & most recent UHS II I have bought.......

My supposition is that there may be something dodgy.

In your shoes I would return for a refund plus I would start the return via an online chat and tell them of my suspicion that they are counterfeit products. They could result in Amazon pulling that seller from their listings!

I’m fairly sure it isn’t an indication of quality. I suspect it’s the one they want you to buy because they get a bigger profit — after all it’s Amazon’s choice! However I don’t know for sure but it’s certainly not the item I end up buying usually.

Maybe you are feeding it too many large files … :exit:

Sorry to ask but what do you mean by ‘amazons choice seller’?
When you do an Amazon site Search for a product the first one listed has a flash/flag saying "Amazon Choice"

I (cynically) agree with a prior post that it is chosen because Amazon get greater benefit, though to the buyer it also looks like a better price.

AFAIK where SanDisk is Supplied by & Sold by Amazon they are buying in direct from SanDisk. I note on the link that @Crotal Bell posted the "SanDisk" store is in header area but as in this case the actual seller is third party merchant. Even on Amazon you need to keep your wits about you and not just be dazzled by a cheap price! Caveat emptor always applies....even there !

I never buy SD cards from Amazon, I always get them from a camera shop. Even then I'll put them in my computer first to confirm the size and do a speed test, to ensure performance is as expected.

Thanks buddy, sound advice.

I was thinking about that Lewis, sounds sensible. I'll use camera shops in future.

Do a search for fake Sandisk cards and compare the card and packaging if you can.

I've just been through this with a Samsung card I bought for my drone. Wasn't performing properly, checked the speeds and was 9 & 14 mb/s! Done a search, was a fake card.

I was a bit iffy about buying a card from Amazon but I wanted it immediately!

Bought a Sandisk from My Memory in the end.

I will only buy from CPC now, postage is free over £17, I have always bought electronic components from then when I can.

Another one for testing on PC first (I use h2testw), but remember that on many PCs you won't get the full speed, simply because the card interface on the PC/laptop is too slow in many of them.

Amazon has become as bad as ebay for cheap junk from the east.

Never had a problem with the supplied by Amazon SD Cards
Had a couple of Sandisk cards fall apart, tried the warranty claim, but it was so convoluted I didn't bother again.
Also bought from mymemory.co.uk with no issues, their cards all seem genuine items.

I buy memory cards from Amazon but only Sold/Dispatched by Amazon, never a choice or market seller and never warehouse returns (where some dodgy buyer has swapped over a fake more likely)

You also should watch out for Fulfilled By Amazon products, which are from third party sellers who place their stock into Amazon warehouses.

The problem is that the stock is then 'commingled' with the same products from other sellers. The one that is shipped to you will simply be despatched from the nearest warehouse, which may well be stock put into the Amazon warehouse system by another vendor, and which may be counterfeit.

Very interesting, didn’t know that, though I guess it’s fairly obvious when you think about it:(.

Its also confusing that Amazon reviews don’t necessarily relate to the precise product or version on the page :(.

One thing that annoys me is apparently we aren't allowed to comment on the non Amazon suppliers in reviews, I did and received a message saying the review had to be just about the product, and as quality and service can vary widely I think we should.

If it has a label on it might not be perfectly aligned or have moved a bit when adhesive got warm.
I have had two from a 'leading brand' start to physically wear and crack slightly, rapidly becoming unusable.

I get what you mean now. I’ve just search UHS II SD card 64GB and the ‘Amazon choice’ was this:
C1F3838A-6B5A-4535-926E-A180E55B3B6A.jpeg
This one was sold directly by Amazon.

To be honest the whole ‘Amazons choice’ would be something I’d completely ignore especially with memory cards. Personally I’d research what’s the best for my camera rather than go with any promoted by Amazon. Amazon wouldn’t know the specific needs of my camera so their ‘choice’ would be totally pointless and just based on just a few words in a search box.

Good advice, TBH I did research what I needed for the camera, and searched quite specifically but still got Amazon Choice.
In hindsight I have never been a great fan of Amazon, probably taught me a lesson, and as there's so much mail order available these days, not much point risking Amazon.

Fake NAND is a huge issues on Amazon. So many reviews show fake goods and I don’t believe Amazon will do much if anything about it.

Go to curry’s. They’re supplied by a traditional distribution channel that’s verified by vendor.

Amazon has shops etc that they cannot regulate and anyone can sell a sku just by submitting a price. I’d be careful with it.

Thanks Andrew, I'll be steering clear of Amazon in future.

Ive always used picstop or 7 day shop since 125MB was big card and never had an issue

I’ve used 7dayshop for a long time and never had a problem with any of their products. They sel, on Amazon now I think so may fall foul of some of the above problem if ‘fulfilled’.

I found one or two of my Sandisk SD cards too fat for my EM1 mark 1 but they fit with no problems in the Mark 2. Is this a card issue or an issue with the camera slots?

Interesting you should say that.
Just got a third card from My Memory and it's also a fatty. So the original that came as a bundle with the FZ82 fits fine in the G80. Both the latter cards get stuck.
The original card in the bundle was Amazon seller, fits both cameras fine.
The second card was Amazon seller, gets stuck in the G80

Have to say I’ve never had any SD card not fit into any camera I’ve used. Which brand/card are you having an issue with?

Is this a card issue or an issue with the camera slots?
that’s a good question. Either there is a quality control issue with the thickness of the SD card or the opening of SD card slot in the camera.

Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB 170.
They all seem to work and upload the same. One is certainly a fraction thinner than the other two and clicks into the G80 fine, the other two go in the slot but get jammed and you can't release them with a push down. I have to tease them out with a blade, so I only have one I trust in the better camera.

Or both of course though that’s more unlikely.

Never purchase lens filters or memory cards from Amazon or E-bay. The market is fraught with cheap counterfeits. I work in a large E-bay facility, I know. :-(

No doubt but I surmise that such activities will/may vary by geographic locations. NB can I ask why, based on your experience & knowledge, aren't eBay acting against the fraudsters?

Or are you saying that because you see it personally in the USA, you "know" it is similarly rife in all fulfillment operations.
Thanks for the advice Russ, much appreciated.
Yes, caution is the watchword but IME buying from Amazon UK and not from one of their third party merchants i.e. 'sold and dispatched by Amazon has been fine for me.

Having said that there have been a few stories of stocks being co-mingled....none too sure if there has a case proven leading to Amazon (sold & dispatched) supplying counterfeit memory cards

Yes, they are often co-mingled, tossed into one bin. It's a gamble on your part, but that's your choice. A buddy of mine purchased a Sandisk Extrme Pro memory card from Amazon. On the way to do a wedding shoot he inserted it into his camera, and it locked everything up. The camera became a paperweight. He borrowed my cameras to do the shoot. It turned out to be a cheap counterfeit. :-(
