My mount ring slips

only slightly on my 70-200, wish I'd never taken it off now. Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone suggest what to do.

do you mean the tripod mounting collar?

Have you tightened it fully?
It does allow you to spin the lens when on a tripod when loosened.

Yep - should tighten up no problems.

It's a tight as it goes though

Mine has a rubber "liner" on the inside IIRC that helps it grip to the lens. Might be worth checking yours to see that is still in place. Also I seem to remember that they have to be located in the correct place to do up properly - again, probably stating the obvious but might be worth a check.
