My latest wedding - Parklands Quendon Hall Essex

Nothing like a great location!
Nice shots although I'd prefer to see the focus on the reflection and a tad smaller DoF in the first.

Very nice set. The location really can make a big difference.

OK, looking at these purely from the POV of a retired wedding photographer ...

#1 is exactly the picture I would have taken when we first started out. Then some kindly soul pointed out that it's a classic "Does My Bum Look Big In This?" shot, and could therefore put off a lot of potential customers. It would work a bit better with a little more foreground and less ceiling, but it would have worked a lot better if you'd moved her to her right and turned slightly to her left, and then twisted the mirror round a bit. That would have given you basically the same shot but without her being square on to the camera (therefore she would look slimmer) and you'd have a bit more separation from the wall light.

#2 is fine, but I'd lose the distracting head on the right by a simple crop (keeping the aspect ratio) and very quickly zap that loudspeaker ...

#3 and #4 - neither of these work for me, but as I was never into this sort of shot, I can't offer any sensible critique

#5 What's that in his right hand? And how come there's that shadow on the grille over the radiator? Whatever, again, not a picture I'd have taken but AFAIC it's fine for what it is.

HTH a bit :)

Hi Dan

Thanks for taking your time to leave your POV

All appreciated!

Regarding the 5th shot, in his right hand he is holding a pocket watch which was special to him. The shadow is caused from another lightsource out of frame giving the fill light on his face.

Great location and great pics, did you use a strobe for 3&4? I agree about the posket watch, it's hard to see what he is holding, maybe a tighter crop on it?
