Hi, i have been stalking these forums for a while now, and i thought its about time i made my first thread.
Firstly my name is Steve (hi everyone!!) and i am 19 years old, looking to be a photography student. I have been playing around with my first 35mm camera for the last two weeks and i love it! It was a bit tricky to get my head round at first, but i think i am finally getting the hang of it.
My camera is a Centon K100, i have been told its a copy of the Pentax k1000. I have a standard 50mm lens and an 80-200mm zoom.

I recently got my first film developed and so i wanted to post my favourites on here for comments and criticism (gentle criticism please :P).
Sorry about the poor quality, i used a £50 scanner to scan them and i lost tremendous amounts of quality, saturation and the colours turned out weird too.
So here i go.

The village church, such a shame about the sun flare :( I think i need some UV Filters?

Some shadows from gravestones, i think it would have been better if the background was out of focus rather than the stones :(

I am new to flickr so i don't know why the images are so small, but thats a few images from my film.
I hope you like them, all comments and criticism are much appreciated, but please be kind to me, its my first time with a 35mm SLR :P

Nice pics, crit you can get in the other picture forums so don't expect too much in here.

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum :)

Lovely film shots, even though you say the colours havent been accurately reproduced, I think the result is very pleasing. You've really captured that film look that which is missing in modern dslrs.

The copyright tag gets in the way for me. I feel the same about data back info or anything that compromises the picture. I'm not sure why people tag their images unless it's a shot Magnum would beat a path to your door for.

Moaning apart, it's good to see new blood with a proper camera.

Thank you so much for the comments guys, its really great to see that you all like them.

@colpepper they have copyright because these are the same ones i put on facebook (i think anyway), i was too lazy to start re-resizing all of them all over again lol. I think i will have to keep some resized ones which don't have copyright on my next scan, just for this forum :P

Thanks again peeps, muchly appreciated :) I am enjoying film so much, it gives me much more satisfaction than digital, i think everyone should have the chance to shoot film!

Steve.

Steve I think most people do have the chance to shoot film at a very reasonable cost certainly Canon,Nikon,Pentax and Sony users who have non digital only lenses can pick up autofocus film bodies for peanuts (My EOS 100 cost me £8) and even if they have digi only lenses film bodies plus a standard lens either auto or manual focus can be picked up easily in the £30 mark.As for developing I use Morrisons who D&P a 36 shot film for £5 and then I scan them on my £100 flat bed scanner so as long as you dont shoot hundreds of rolls of film it can work out relatively cheap and as you say it is very satisfying and gives a different effect to digital.

Thats not to say that my 400D is going anywhere soon
