Hi All,

I've finally taken a photo I'm happy with and would really appreciate some advice on how to get it printed to hang on my wall.

I already have a frame and mount, and I will be going for a 15" x 10" print.

I just need to know what to do next.

Thanks,

Dom

Get it printed via online photo printers, sounds like you've gone to a lot of effort and it would be a shame to spoil it with sub standard printing. Do a search on TP for recommendations.

Thanks, what do I need to do to the file? Do I need to change the dpi or quality of anything? Is Tif an ok file format to send in?

Different online companies will have different ideas on what you need to do to send the images in, some will have specific upload software. If not there will be instructions on their site.

One word of caution though with calibration. I'd at least try to get your monitor into the ballpark for brightness, there are a few online things that will step you through this. If you want to do it regularly get a monitor calibration tool (under £100) so your colour will be accurate as well.

I'm going to send my print to DSCL to print it as it seems to get good feedback. Only thing is they want my pic in jpeg, but I can't save to this format in photoshop possibly because I have it set to 16 bit. Will it make a difference if I change it, or should I save to Tif and send them that? (They say they will take Tif files.

Thanks,

Dom

change to 8bit then you 'll be able to save as a Jpeg. In theory you are discarding some colour information but doubt you will notice much difference, you will still have 16.8 million possible colours. DSCL are supposed to be very good though I havent used them.
