Having photographed the rock band Vega during their spring UK tour and festival appearance at Classic Rock Magazine's "Hard Rock Hell - AOR" the band asked me if I could make a video for their next single, "What the Hell".

Well, I'd never used video on my Canon 60D before but the lads were very persuasive and, before I knew it, I said I would!

Here it's here, what do you think?

Good work! I'm thinking about giving this ago, in fact I have some people constantly asking me to do it for them based on my photography. I've been trying to build my video skills first though because it's a different ball game!

Nice work. Good song too.

Db247: go for it! Video is a different beast but worth it when it comes together.

Just had a call from the band earlier today, they want me to do their next single (chosen by none other than Joe Elliott from Def Leppard who's a fan and mentor of the band). Nottingham Rock City here we come, watch this space.

Hope you don't take offense by my opinion, I've not actually made my own music video however its something that I am going to do soon and I have done loads of research into what makes a good video.

Basically in most generic professional music videos you'll have loads of clips of the band usually from the same location to keep consistency. However I liked the effect where the tripod was in a similar position in the tunnel/car park clips I think that could work but the random clips of them performing live just looked out of place?

Along with the band shots it'd be nice to see some decent B footage to show a story behind the song instead of just a video of some guys jamming and a guy getting tattooed?

Apart from that, I think you definitely have the potential to make a great video - look forward to watching your next one.

lolage, thanks for watching - no offence taken at all. Your points are well made. In fact, it was the record company who wanted the live/tattoo footage included and they got what they asked for. Perhaps a stronger thread was needed, there certainly will be one on the next one!

Cheers.
