Andy,

While I can't really be much help as I have no experience of either kit from what I have read on here I don't think you can go far wrong with either of these! I'm in a similar boat at the minute and am swaying towards the Elinchrom kit (prob the BXRI as I like the idea of built in skyport)

One thing to consider is that add on accessories tend to be more expensive for Elinchrom I believe.....

Yeah i had noticed the Elinchrom kit was saying to get the Elinchrom Prolinca I/R Transmitter as a good combo :s does that mean it doesnt come with a transmitter and you need to buy one Or is it just a better upgrade to the one that comes in the kit??

Have you considered the Lencarta kit - ably supported by our very own Garry edwards?

Great quality for less money and all the support you can shake a stick at

Highly recommended by me - a previous purchaser!

You have just refreshed my memory :) yes he gave me the website in my first post on here, il go find the post and have a look on there.
Cheers Fella :)

Both those kits only come with two heads so will this be suitable for your style of photography?

I can second keiriks comments about the Lencarta kits. When i first stared out I purchased both the 3 head and a two head systems and thought they were great value.

I'll add to the consensus - get Lencarta:) www.lencarta.com

I must try to be serious...

Both the Bowens and the Elinchrom are good products. As Jump says, the Elinchrom accessories are much more expensive and you won't get the option of a wide range of alternative accessories either. Buying flash heads and not thinking about the cost of accessories is a bit like buying a car and not thinking about the MPG...
Their Skyport triggers are good but personally I'm not convinced that it's a good idea to build radio receivers into flash heads - something else to go wrong!

If you decide to ignore my advice and everyone else's and you buy Elinchrom instead of Lencarta, you should get radio triggers not their infra red IMO - it's old technology now and radio triggers are both better and more reliable.

Ok guys i have decided that im going to get the Bowens light kit....BUt stuck on 2 which i could get which is :-

Bowens Gemini 200/400 Reflector Kit

Or

Bowens Gemini 400/400 Twin Head Studio Kit

Il also be buying the Bowens twin Pulsar Radio triggers :)

Just wanted your thoughts again before i commit to buying..

Cheers

Andy

Well, I'm disappointed that you've decided to get Bowens instead of Lencarta, but at least you can save money on the accessories...

I bought the Pulsar radio triggers a few years ago. They were pretty good in their day, but IMO are now past their sell by date, not 100% reliable and no longer a good buy with so many cheaper competitors available.

OH rite what triggers would u look at Garry ?

The reason for bowens is that another tog i know has bowens and il be able to borrow some of his stuff :) he doesnt know this yet but he will soon hehe.

I'd go for the Elinchrom Skyport or the Lencarta Wavesynch triggers, both of which are 100% reliable and much cheaper
