Having recently bought a new PC pre-loaded with Photoshop Elements 8 I have had a go at some of the effects to pass the time while I'm off work. Here are a couple of my first attempts at cloning & gaussian blur, something I've read a lot about!

The photos themselves aren't brilliant as the light was poor (taken during snowstorms!) but any tips on improving them would be most appreciated.

First the blackbird:-

God i must be thick, i couldnt even work out what you'd cloned out in the first pic

I'd say for your first attempt you've done really well tbo, its not flawless, theres one or two bits in each pic that could do with a touch-up but the bulk of what you've done is pretty good:thumbs: Nice shots too btw, Robin is great.

Something unrelated, but you seem to have pretty bad chromatic aberration going on, if it wasnt for the sharpness of the pics, i'd think they were severe crops:shrug:

This is probably due to the budget lens I'm using being the 75-300mm Sigma while I learn this SLR business (it came with the camera). It's getting a little long in the tooth and does not cope with low light particularly well, but it does me for now until I can afford something better.
