This is my first posting, at the time i took this pic I only had a Fuji s5800 but I think this came out ok

I took this pic a while ago, I was waiting for the boat back to town after climbing Catbells. Note how high the water level was some of the jettys were under water

Welcome to the 52 - and a good first effort

The one thing I would say is be careful of cutting the shot in half where the water meets the land - and the gaps on either side of the jetty are different sizes. Sorry if that sounds picky, I'm just trying to be constructive. Have you thought about converting it to mono and bumping up the contrast? I think that might give it a bit more oompf.

Edit to say - don't worry about just having a bridge camera. All my shots for this project up to week 32 were taken with a Panasonic FZ8 - it's the person taking the shots, not the camera that counts :)

I agree here, especially in regards to the gaps. I'd crop it slightly on the right and take out a tiny bit of sky too. Apart from that it's an excellent photo which I like a lot! Great start to your thread

Oh, and welcome to the 52s too

Welcome to the 52s.

I agree with the critique above and I might be tempted to lose a bit of the sky too - bringing the waterline onto the top third. Despite those little niggles this is still a VERY pleasing image.
Nice sense of perspective with the jetty leading into the shot and I like the play of light on the water.

Hi Andy - welcome to the 52

You've made a good start with these 2. I like the colours in version #1, but the mono works well too. The crooked posts add interest and I think I'd have cropped a little bit of foreground out, to give them more impact. But it's really just personal choice.

I look forward to seeing your next week's shot. :)

Jean
