Unfortunately I find when i'm out with my camera I can't just concentrate on that - life is always there with me.
so I have been coming up with a strap idea that lets me do other stuff whilst carrying the camera (such as put the dog's lead on or off, tie my boy's shoe lace, pick up a dropped glove, pick up and carry a child or dog over a fence...)
the problem with regular straps is you endanger the child or dogs head and of course your camera.
the problem with shoulder straps like the r strap is the same - as soon as you lean forward the camera leaves your hip and comes front.
my idea is this:
use a longer strap (7 feet long for me, and i'm 6 foot 2)
attach to the camera body via an eye bolt
loop it thus:
behind your neck, in front of each shoulder, and then behind your back loosely.
it's easier to put on like a back-pack i find.
it means the camera always sits in the small of your back, even when you lean over forward or bend down. but the camera is accessible in exactly the same way as with an r strap.
so basically a longer r strap, but tied around you in a symmetrical way so the camera stays near your bum.
try it.
