Yes
Well both dash cams have died at almost the same time, although for differing reasons. One would not turn off after ignition off until its internal batt died the other refused to start auto recording, Both Nextbase 602's from COSTCO so no issue with refund what so ever! Love Costco for the customer service!! But they only do that cam so not wanting another of those.

So what have you bought and how long has it been working without issue. Just wanting a reliable device around £100 - any ideas.

Cheers

SJ4000 in the van, SJ M10 in the car. Both much the same but the M10 is smaller, cube shaped as opposed to rectangular. Both came from amazon and you could pick up both for £100.

Being GoPro clones they come with a whole raft of different mounts and waterproof cases, spare batteries and what not as well.

The SJ4000 comes with wifi so you can download clips to your phone if you need to.

Do they operate in auto mode and overwrite older footage, looking for an automatic ign on and starts recording? Thanks for reply

Yes they can be set to act as a normal dashcam, overwriting files, coming on with the ignition. I set mine to 720p and get ~9 hours per 32gb card before it starts to overwrite the earliest files which I set to 10 minutes each..

Another recommendation for the SJ4000.
Better than any dashcam I've had in the past, movie mode is very clear, reg plates are easily read. Stills aren't bad either!
There are several makes of the same camera on Amazon, just go for the SJ4000 of your choice.

I got a E-Prance Mini 0801 on rear windscreen for 2 yrs and it is still going strong, there are newer versions of it the Mini 0806 seems quite good and less than £100. on amazon Review >> http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2015/7...iew-better-late-than-never.html?currentPage=2 , also have a Street Guardian SGZG12RC for the front windscreen. Both hardwired to the fusebox, auto ignition depends on what fuse you attach it to. As most of them they overwrite the oldest file , how often depends on card size.

I bought this one from Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111945251668?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT and the recording quality is superb, and it has the advantage that it's virtually invisible, it just sticks to the windscreen behind the rear view mirror. It's hard-wired in so it's literally a case of fit and forget.
The disadvantage (which doesn't bother me) is that it doesn't have a monitor, so it's necessary to take the card out and put it in the computer if I want to view footage. As it's only there as a black box recorder I don't need to view the footage, but of course I need to view it from time to time just to make sure that it's still working. It's supposed to sync to my phone with an app, but the app is useless.

I'm still happy with my Roadhawk HD in the Golf. A pair (front and back) Blackvue our Mercedes GL. And a Android Headunit integrated one in my Audi Quattro. I like them tiny, discrete, no wires over the place, and GPS integrated. Basically reliable to trust for when you really need it like being able to read number plates at night in the rain whilst driving. Like Garry, I don't like a screen in them, makes them bigger, it is totally unnecessary.

We'll see what we put in the new car, possibly the Roadhawk. I like the quality the best of that one.

I went with the SJ7000 as a gopro equivalent for messing about. Works surprisingly well as a dashcam as well.
Not bad for £33

Fingers and toes crossed :) Although one other model is still in the race which my head says that it makes more sense. #firstworldproblems

Aye, Tesla. You know it makes sense! ;)
LOL nope GLC 43 AMG. Just waiting for the Levante test drive to become available. I couldn't get one in Paris unfortunately but at least it is released out there.

Thanks all for the replies - looking for reliability, doesnt often come with cheap gear but looking at other reports it seems some of the cheaper units are performing well 2, 3 and 4 years old so It may well be an SJ for the mrs front and rear view. Can it be hard wired then?

You could use a fuse tap to an inline usb socket see image below and a long usb lead from that to wherever you fit the camera. Pretty much what I did in my car to run the camera and a hud.

I'm using the Mobius Dashcam/Action cam. Fits nicely behind my mirror, although at the moment it's still plugged into the USB with the cable lazily going round the passenger seat...I've not got round to putting it in properly.
Quality is amazing for the price though :)

Isn't the möbius one that you can separate the lens from the body and the bodies quite small anyway. That makes for a small hidden camera system.

You can do, yes, you can pul the guts out and hide them. There's a kit for it IIRC

Great little unit but would not work with my cars mirror setup. But looks good!

BTW Argos just refunded me on a dashcam I bought 9 months ago which just kept crashing, presido , now that was crap, every time I looked at it it wasn't recording
