Hi All

for the past two years, I've been fascinated with owls after taking a shot one night of a tawny in the wild by luck.

Now, I've been trying to get a shot of a barn owl, but have struggled loads. My friend has spotted roughly 6 barn owls last year as late as december, which I plan to check out in the next few days. On a previous thread, I mentioned about making a box. Well, with half a day at work today, I purchased all materials I needed...not bad for £27!

I'm an electrician by trade, so have all screws/power tools & sealants etc so no need to buy them.

sadly, weather stopped play, so the actual cutting and building will be tomorrow. I got the diagrams and plans off the national bird owl trust website, very handy!

I also have the perfect location for the box to be placed, which a farmer has kindly agreed too.

Here's what the finished item should look like......hopefully!

juwt need to woodstain it, and felt the roof then it's done. Also bought a wireless camera to put inside :)

I'd assumed that it was going into a dutch barn or somesuch until you mentioned roofing felt ....

If it's exposed to rain I'd pay attention to drainage of the tray, and no doubt you've drain-holed the bottom anyway ...?

Plan is to either out it inside the farmers barn up high, or in his tree. If i go with the latter, i'll drill the drainage holes when fixing it.

still a little bit of work to get done on it, but should be ready in a few weekends
