It was blowing an absolute gale! My hands were shivering because of the cold as well, so it is a bit wobbly. It's lucky that the ducks were in a sheltered part of the river beneath us or else they'd have been blown away!!
I did run it through the unsharpen mask and it made it look a bit better, but I'm not a massive fan of post-processing so left it unchanged.. I'd rather take 50 pics of one thing and pick the best one.. obviously not this time though!!
Sandy's pool would be okay for post-processing. In fact, I'll like to post-process Sandy. I'm not sure in what way.. perhaps the clean t-shirt filter??

If I'm not hungover, I'm aiming to get down to the local lakes tomorrow morning as it's supposed to go -6 tonight in our area so should get some good frosty relections. Definitely with tripod though, you know what I'm like with cold. (for those who are
we were sitting round the pool in Santorini in glorious sunshine when I suddenly complained I was a bit chilly

I don't think it'll be to everyone's liking; unfortunately it's one of those places where you have to visit it to appreciate the ambience of a time long forgotten.
I'm not sure what the cottage would've been for; whether it was simply someone's home, or whether a logger and his family lived there, it's hard to say. What's there though, is that sense of "people used to be here once", that little thing that it's hard to put your finger on.
If you're ever walking up to Llyn Elsi from Betws-y-Coed, then keep bearing right, and it's on your right hand side about 1 and a half miles up.
edit - see if you can spot the ghostly face as well

Missed your first one - meets the theme well!
The second one is an amazing place - it screams history and dilapidation! In fact you can only just make out that there is a structure under there - its worth several looks!!

I've no idea how old it is; it's quite hard to judge the ages of some of the old structures hidden away in the Snowdonia wilds principally because they've got a lot of cover which protects them from weathering, and because they were so well built by the people of the time.
What I can say is that the stonework reminds me of some of the walling and cottages up on the Sychnant Pass behind Conwy, which I'm reliably informed is mid-18th to 19th century as far as date of construction goes. Sadly, there's no real way to know when it became abandoned. The ground around the old cottage in the picture is very very swampy in parts, it was a bit of a hopscotch to get into a position to take the picture; I'd guess that there's been no cultivation there for.. hmm.. around 80 years perhaps?
Definitely a potential house for Tom Bombadil though

That building really has seen better days. Well spotted as it definitely is one you could walk past without even seeing it blends in so well. I love old run down buildings. Its quite scary how quickly building deteriorate though.

I'm not going back to Wales for a few months now, but next time I'm back up there I'll try and see if it's possible to get inside the cottage, although with the way it is, I'm not sure how safe it would be. I'll make the call as and when though!!

I love finding these old cottages/ruins and just wondering Who? used to live there, what they did, etc etc. There's loads up near where I'm from probably a couple of hundred years old or more...
