Yes
I though it was about time i wrote this part.
I'm doing the 52 mainly to get better (not that it can get much worse lol)
My Rules
I will try to stick to the theme every week even if the shot is late
Ill also try to come up with something different every week so you dont just see photos of our zoo.
The photo will be taken only for the 52

(ill probably add to these as i go along)

Week 1 - Curves

You dont get much curvier than an eye, These have to be one of my favourite lizards.
Enjoy.

Ooh, I like that. Great composition and certainly a bit out of the ordinary. Your thread is going to get moved when a mod sees it though, tis in the wrong section.

Cats are wonderful friends
Our cat is our little girls best friend

Gentle eyes that see so much,
paws that have the quiet touch,
Purrs to signal "all is well"
and show more love than words could tell.
Graceful movements touched with pride,
a calming presence by our side
A friendship that takes time to grow
Small wonder why we love them so.

Fabulous lizard shot for week 1
There's an incredible amount of detail there. Not only in the eye but in the scales too - and each of them are little curves.
Great background choice for him to stand on. I love it - it's such a good start to the 52

Week2 : A beautiful poem . . . did you write it?
The photo complements it perfectly and really nice focus on the eyes. My only niggle would be the pink background - I'd prefer something more neutral.

Love the lizard, lovely detail, nice and sharp - where did you take it?

Nice lizard, nice cat.

Still trying to find a cat with an expression other than "Open Tinz!"

Ian.

The pink back ground is my little girl (couldnt get rid of the BG in photoshop as it was taking away some of the cat) didnt write the poem but its an unknown author.

Believe it or not in a polly box (fishmongers box) in my living room, we have a fair few pets so i get to take my pick lol

The lizard pic is superb the detail is amazing The second week is really good too but that cat looks evil

Aw the cat isnt that evil just a pain in the rear.

Thank you all for the comments

Stunning shot of the Lizard, and the eye is really curved.

Lovely poem, set off with a great shot of the cat.

This is in our front garden thought it was a bit different it was 'Chopped' down a few years ago ( I think it was once a large bush)

There does not seem to be any focal point in this shot, my eye just keeps looking for something that is not there. I looks like it could be quite a bit sharper. Then there's the bit on the right that my eye wanders off to as I find it distracting. Sorry to be negative about this.

Allan

Thanks for the comments, maybe changing the Dof might work?
The focal point was meant to be the face in the actual wood (but then i do have a great imagination lol ) I was thinking of re-shooting it this morning but its raining :(

I cannot see a face:shrug: but looks a bit soft to me though, I will look harder for it.

I can see it too, maybe cos its in your garden you could have another go to get it sharper.

Week 1 Nice idea to kick off your 52

Week 2 Framed just a little too tight for me but as I have 3 cats

Week 3 Needs to stand out from the background a little more.

Well i tried another angle and a shallow Dof but because there are bricks behind the wood that i can't move it still looks a little to busy, so i took a different shot completely.
Here is my Second attempt at Chopped.

I spotted the face .. took a bit of squinting ! Shame the tree isnt a little sharper as has been said.

Nice sharp detail on the tom though !

I like the tree stump, why not try a little selective brightening to emphasise it a touch? Carefully though, else it will start to look like it's glowing!

Love the lizard, not sure about the cat though I am afraid, would like to see a cat rather than a head?

Thanks for the comments :) will try to sharpen the tree stump over the weekend in CS3

Not sure how to brighten selectively as im only just learning in Photoshop :(
Comments noted on the cat :)

Thanks

Hmm. Basically, you have to find your "lasso" selection tool, and draw around the area you want to work in. If you have an "intelligent" lasso it will help you find the outline of the target. You can then apply various adjustments to just that selected area - like this:

All I have done is upped the contrast/brightness a touch on the stump, maybe more than necessary, to show the alteration area.

Oh right i think i get it it has really improved the pic ill have a got at that tonight and see what happens. Thanks :)

I think I can make out the face, but there's too much going on. It might have worked to provide a backdrop and cover what's behind... Good try though... it's just a bit to busy.

Not the tom shot works nicely , sharp, colourful and detailed.

Week 1 - Lovely picture of the lizard and the detail in the eye is fantastic.

Week 2 - Not a fan of cats or pictures of them, but you've got a nice attentive portrait there.

Week 3 - Sorry the stump did nothing for me but I feel you've redeemed yourself with the tomato shot. Nice tight crop and good DoF with plenty of detail on the board showing. Slight niggle with the light reflection, but only very small :)

The lizard shot is stunning :clap:

The cat is really cute - is it really as docile as it looks?

The stump doesn't do a great deal for me but I like the tomatoes- nice rich colours and good use of DOF.

Completely agree about the light shine on the tomato, wasnt sure how to get it to stop
Thanks for taking the time to comment :)

The cat is quite simply thick, she will let us do anything to her our little girl adores her.
Thanks for the comments :)

I really struggled to be inspired this week. Ive had so much to do i just couldnt really find the time i wanted, to look for the shot i was after. So i may re shoot the whole week at a later date.

But here goes......
IMG_5247-1.jpg

As always C&C greatly appreciated :)

wow i knew it wasnt great but didnt realise it was that bad :bonk:

I don't think it's THAT bad.

I was going to do something similar, but it went and snowed overnight and put paid to my plans. I think it needs more grit and texture though. I was going to use a bit of kerb with double yellow lines and a drain grate in the foreground to add some interest. I think if you'd maybe had a little more in focus in the foreground and been able to get some depth and texture in the tarmac it would have worked better.

i think this might of come out better if the kerb was a little more over to the right, i think it would draw your eye in a lot more

thats just my opinion though, in practice it may make it look horrible :D

Don't be disheartened, there are a lot of 52 threads, and it takes time to go through them all... I'm trying now.

I like what you attempted here. It's a very good idea. Moving the kerb to the right would have been better. You know what may have worked well.. get down lower still, bring the curve of the kerb out from the lower right hand corner through the frame.

This would have been a really good shot if there was more texture in it. It would have been better if the path was brick.
Its still a good shot keep up the good work
