Muted, slightly skewed colours

I'm looking for some advice on muting colours in Photoshop - there are a few methods I know, but none are particularly consistent.
I'm not looking to just reduce saturation as such (thar be a slider for that :bonk: ) but rather skew colours to be more pastel shades - something a bit like bleach bypassing, less the silly contrast.

Any tips folks?

Have you tried playing with the individual colour curves?
