I've recently calibrated my Dell 2090WA with a Spyder3pro. It seeemed to me that there was a slight green cast on the screen, but I never trust my eyes on this. Anyway, I've just had a job back from DSCL and the cast is very easy to see to my eyes. There is also a very noticable lack of vibrancy and colour to the prints. They look VERY muted compared to my screen - much more so than ever before.

Here's one of the shots so you can tell me how out it is. To me it looks like it has a slight green cast.

I think the image is slightly cyan rather than green. In fact a couple of points of either magenta or red in Photoshop made the flesh tone a bit warmer and more pleasing . Plus I thought a bit of density helped as well. But that's down to personal preferences.

I've never used DSCL but I remember they ask you to use a supplied profile prior to printing. Did you do this? Have you spoken to DSCL about the problem as they may have a answer for you

Whilst DSCL do seem to have a good reputation you may want to try a test with another lab and see what the rsults are like.

Thanks John, I'll play with those colours. I've followed DSCL's instructions to the letter and have had conversations on the phone with them in the past with no satisfactory outcome.

I used Samslab for a while and was delighted with his quality, but found the service, quite frankly, a joke.

The problem is I don't trust this calibration - screen still appears to have a slight cast.

you can find the screen has a hue depending in the light you work in.

I thought that was the issue as I was working in a room with apple green walls. I've since moved into a room working in the dark with neutral walls. Same problem.

I think I'd agree that it's ever so slighty cyan. I'm calibrated too, also with a Spyder 3, and I use dscl. I've found my prints a near perfect match now.
However, the first time I used my Spyder everything went green, I mean really really green. In desperation I ended up uninstalling the software, and downloading the latest verison from their website. Next time it calibrated perfectly.
Not sure why, but might be worth a try?

I've got the latest software. :(

Thing is the software on my disk and the software I downloaded were the same version? Otherwise, I'd maybe contact Colourvision and see what they say. I'm sure I read somewhere that others have had 'green' problems and were sent new Spyders.
... do you have another monitor/mates machine that you could try it on?

First of all I like the shot...

I've had a look on my U2410 calibrated with the same piece of kit. Your image looked slightly muted but not badly. Colour cast was v.slightly cyan/green.

I have made the following changes (LR2) to just about where I would put it for a DSCL print:

WB: Colour +5, Tint +7
Exposure: +0.19
Blacks: +5
Clarity: +26
Vibrance: +14
Saturation: +24

Slight sharpen on export.

The result looks like this (please let me know if you would like me to delete the image)....

That looks perfect to my eyes, Ben, thank you. I have so much to learn about colour management - especially when I forget to take a custom WB. :D

Just a thought. Not used the Spyder software ( I'm using X-Rite) can you adjust the WB to something a bit warmer, say from 6500K to 6300K
