Ok so heres the problem, I have around 500 pics I took at a dance festival, and I want to be able to print them 2 to a page so that kids and parents can decide which ones they want to order.

I would like to be able to choose the order the pics go on the pages, but this isn't major.

Using CS2 I first thought great Contact Sheet 2 - but I cant work out a way of giving this a left hand margin of a certain size - to allow for binding.

Then I thought picture package - but it looks like if I throw a folder at it and have 2 per page it prints the same picture out twice on the page.

Then I tried PDF presentation, which is really neat but only seems to allow 1 pic per page.

Any thoughts?

Maybe you have an action or script you wouldn't mind sharing.

Thanks

Allan

PS I don't really want to go through individually creating pages in photoshop, so am looking for a semi automated process ideally? Maybe CS2 isn't the best tool for this job.

Qimage will do it. The latest version has a 30 day trial but watermarks the prints. Might be worth a trial to see if you want to pay for it.

I'll look to see if I have an older download without the watermark.

You could always use the Windows XP photo printing wizard (if you're running XP) - it lets you choose from a number of pictures per page and is handy for running off smaller pics quickly

KIM, I've found a way to do it in CS2, using the Contact Sheet II function.

I'll try my best to explain it so please bear with me. I'll use examples along the way.

Basically I want a contact sheet of 8 inches by 10 inches. It will contain 30 photos...3 columns and 5 rows. Each thumbnail will be 2 inches by 2 inches. I want a 2 inch gap on the left hand side for a binder margin.

So I set the options. Setting the document size to 6 inches by 10 inches (the required size, but minus the margin).
(Decided to do screenies :D)

This is what it looks like.

Then I go into Image > Canvas Size, and change the unit of measure to inches, and change it from 6 to 8. I also click on the rightmost square of the 9 placement squares. This means that CS2 puts the extra 2 inches I've just created on the left hand side of the image.

Making it look like this.

8 inches by 10 inches with a blank 2 inches on the left hand side.

Obviously my measurements are very crude, but it gives you an idea of how I've done it. You'll have to work out the measurement for yourself and hwo much margin you want etc. But basically deduct your required margin from the contact sheet options, then add it to the canvas size later on, on the left hand side (or right, if youre doing double sided sheets :))

Hope this helps :)

Kind Regards

Marcel
