Hi guys, not really sure what the tecnique is called but am looking to try something out and don't know how to.

So i've seen pictures on here and elsewhere, what the tog has done is use a quick shutter speed and taken a series of pics, and then combining them all into one shoot, e.g; a motorcycle rider jumping through the sky and it looks like there is 7 riders, instead it is just the same rider taken at say 7 frames per second.

Does that make sense?

I think I know what you mean, probably the easiest way is to overlap the images as layers and then using layer masks paint out the bits to let you see the bike in the other images.
Another way involves shooting in the dark and using strobes to give a multi exposure but I don't think thats what you mean.

The easiest way is to import each image on to it's own layer. On each layer, other than the bottom one which will provide the background, add a black filled layer mask (hold down the alt key when selecting the layer mask icon.)

The black filled layer mask will hide everything in that layer. All you need do now is with a paint brush and white selected as your colour, paint over the area that you wish to include in the final image, ie the motorbike in the example you gave. Do this for each image that needs to be included, and when happy with the results, flatten image and save.

It's in the tutorials section written by the very knowledgeable CT

Sorry for a slight hijack, but how do you deal with areas where two photograph's overlap? As an example in the link provided on post #19, on the left hand women's neck I can see where it's been erased/cloned.

Any way around this?

Cheers...

Are you talking about something like this?

Thanks very much for the link, i tried giving it a go last night before i had seen the link provided and unfortunatly didn't come out so well.

Didn't help that i didn't use a tripod, the exposures had changed between each shot and i had moved the camera!

Now i know what im trying to do i'll give it another proper go!

What software are you using? if it's one of the later versions of photoshop then theres a layer align option built in, then tweek each layer with a levels or curves so the exposure more or less matches, before using the masks.
