here goes planing to stick to this and improve my pictures so heres week 1 taken on the first of january to start the year off as usual c+c is more than welcome

Lovely warm tones, and good curves. I think the wall (?) upper left is a bit of a distraction, and the frame feels a little unbalanced with the body hard up against the edge on the right, with some room on the left. However, I like it.
 
This is odd, i was just considering doing some shots with my guitar and i stumbled upon this. Very nice, i have to agree though, it would be nicer if it was more central and didn't have the wall at the top corner. Good work! :thumbs:
 
A good start. Both the wee niggles will be easy fixed with another shot. Like the nice warm feel to the shot.
 
I'm not sure about the warm tone, looks more like the WB was off. Agree about the other comments too.
If it was me I'd skew the angle of the guitar too, I like the shallow DOF :thumbs:
 
Agree the tight crop and top left of the image don't help it. Nice angle though, maybe give it more space next time.
 
week 1 - like this but as has already been said, the wall is a bit distracting.

week 2 - doesn't do much for me I'm afraid. Just seems like a front on snapshot of a model

week 3 - nice lighting and DOF :thumbs:
 
Love that GT-R shot... good lighting, nice DOF, very dreamy.
 
thanks for the replys guys heres week 4 had a little visit to manchester with all the recomendations from all on the forum thanks for that got a few pics but none i was really happy with i went to the war museum and took this reasonably happy with it but it could be better as usual c+c welcome

I can't help but wonder if that wouldn't look better with a mean and moody sky behind it. It looks good, but I wonder if the meter hasn't got confused with all that sky, making the tank a little dark... maybe a splash of fill flash would have lifted it.
 
Martin, rather a clear and empty sky than solid dull grey :D...

Some really strong colours in that last one. It's got an almost apocalyptic feel to it. I like it, but a couple of things that I've noticed.. There's a bit of movement in the man on the right... makes it look almost like a double image. The light on the right is very bright, and I'm finding it a little distracting. I'm not 100% on the lamppost in the middle the perspective is clear it's behind, but... Sorry, I don't know how to describe it...
 
i was trying to get one of the car mag style night shots and i told him to keep still but he didnt listen and i thought if i cropped the lampost out of the right it would be too tight of a crop and cheers for the info

not happy with this one as flash batteries ran out and the photo was mega noisey and the light was awful

Martin, I like the horses head, although I'm not sure what's going on with all that yellow. Shame about the batteries etc...

Sorry to hear about work, but at least something is lined up. That shot does have a look of ah what the ... about it. It works very well though.

It might have been done a lot, but I like the reflections and the shapes work very well. It could do with a straighten, but I think you'd lose the end of the bridge...
 
Yikes... I've stumbled upon another week 8 shot before having even thought of an idea. Mind you, I don't get it so don't feel like I've pushed myself in any particular direction. What's the shot go to do with mechanical?
 
Three good images for weeks 6,7 & 8.

Horse portrait composition is spot on but just needs that yellow colour cast dealing with.

Your self portrait is scaring me. It's a very "what are you looking at" look. However, it's well framed and lit and I like the processing.

Lovely colours in the bridge shot. Just needs a bit of a straighten and it'll be spot on :thumbs:
 
Some nice piccies in this lot, like the guitar, and the who cares bw shot too :D The reflections wk 8 is best for me so far, plenty to look at and good to see someone else deliberately off-balancing a picture!

Both very nice, the background blur on 17 is beautiful! Just a note that #14 is very nice too, a brilliant sunset.
