Was curious as to what people were using to convert their MTS HD videos files from the likes of the GF1 to another format? My MacBook Pro doesn't seem to be capable of playing HD movies smoothly and I'm trying to convert them to another format.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The video I've shot in AVCHD Lite play back okay in VLC and convert okay using Handbrake.

AVCHD Lite is a subset of AVCHD format, which identifies devices that are capable of 720p/30fps recording only. Comparing with Full HD, the 720p/30fps video is recorded in the normal AVCHD 720p/60 format, but every other frame is duplicated, resulting in thirty actual frames per second.

If you want to convert the AVCHD Lite to QuickTime MOV for playing and editing, I recommend you Pavtube MTS Converter for MAC.I've had good results converting the .mts files to .mov, with the settings h.264, 12000kbps, 1280*720, 25fps, aac. The files look good on my Mac running Adobe Premiere, edit easily, and convert well to DVD format.

Hope these will be great helpful for you.
