dumb question, but can I have more than 1 email address going into the inbox?

If so, how?

You should be able to - it is under accounts if I remember correctly. I assume you mean that rather than actually adding an email address?

yes - cheers - I meant add an existing email account... worked it out now - many thanks!!

I have 3 mailboxes connected to outlook, 1 gmail and 2 hosted with 1&1.

good good.. how do i send from it.. and link accounts?

I can receive.. not send.

I don't use outlook personally but used to run IT for a charity that does and I am trying to remember this from memory so the instructions may not be exact.

Bring up the account you are have problems sending from > click on properties > click on advanced tab > under server port numbers/out going mail (SMTP) change the number from 25 to 26 > click apply > click OK

Also make sure there is a tick mark next to my server requires authorisation (Servers tab > out going mail server > click apply > click OK)

Do you mean that you can't actually send an email or that you don't know how to send from a different account?

I know how to create an email but it just comes up with SMTP server crap...

I know how to link incomiing it from both aol an my web account linked into outlook..

when I send it comes up with SMTP auth error.

where do i find the outbound SMTP server?

First step, google "Your ISP/Mail host, SMTP settings".

Failing that, check that you have SSL authentication switched on (Advanced a/c settings), usually with your a/c name and password (tick box option).

If it's failing on Port 25, try using Port 587. Quite a few ISPs now disable the standard SMTP port for non native email accounts.

Scroll down to the image after point 7 to see how to tick the 'auth' box.
