Am I correct in saying with MS Office Home & Business 365 the 5 licence version the users don't need to be all in the one household but can be registered to 5 different computers/devices at different households?

Don't forget that Home (Premium) is one product and Business (Small and Enterprise) are a collection of packages aimed at businesses and bundle services like Exchange, SharePoint And Lync.

On the business packages where an Office subscription is included (it isn't included with all packages), you get to install on five devices used by each user subscribed to the service. This includes machines used at home.

With the recent update to Office 365, you can now also install Office for Mac.
