Just a quick note to praise MPB for their excellent service when SELLING used goods to them rather than buying.

I had a couple of camera bodies and some other items excess to requirements, and wanted a straightforward deal for the whole lot.

They made a quote based on the information given which was subject to review on receipt of the goods. If this is acceptable in principle MPB arrange collection at no cost to the seller. On receipt the goods are examined and assuming they are as described the amount of money is credited to your bank account in a couple of days.

In my case, for one of the cameras they actually increased the amount payable and paid the amount quoted for the other items.

The prices paid were very fair, communication good, and the whole procedure took just 7 days.

I assume the price they will pay is still quite a bit less that the going rates in our classified section? I'm just wondering though as I am planning a move from Canon to Nikon and have some L lenses to sell.

Just sent MPB a message with a list of my gear for sale. Lets see what they quote.
 
Obviously the prices are lower than you might be able to buy at here, but they're not a rip off. They are extremely fair and bear in mid that they have to pay 20% VAT plus make a profit. You only have to compare what you get offered to a sample of their prices to see that everyone is getting a good deal.

I chose to go through them because I had purchased a camera online from a dealer and so couldn't px . I dont have the patience to go through posting pics, answering some of the questions there might be here, haggling over price etc.

I got a very quick reply to my question but as expected what they will pay is just too low for me. I am on a pretty tight budget so every penny counts!

For my Canon 24-70 L which was bought brand new from Jacobs last August and has been used only a few times and is absolutely mark free they would only give me £610. If I list on here I would be looking at more like £900. So a pretty big difference, especially when you have several lenses to sell.

However it is a risk free way to sell and is very easy. I can see how it could appeal if you want a very easy sale and are not so bothered about top prices. They do seem very helpful.
 
Depends on what you're offering really, I was quoted £310 for my D90 which I would expect to get £350 or so after postage selling privately. £50 for my 50mm 1.8 which is only a tenner short of what I'd get privately. Someone on here was offered £300 for his 180mm 2.8 which was more than the offers he was getting for it on here. Maybe they are just more generous with Nikon gear :p
 
Thanks for the thread Caroline, i've just dropped them a note, see if they're intered in my old Sigma zoom.
