Yes
I somehow just managed to start using the firefox browser with the Google toolbar as my default browser.

I am sure Microslosh's Internet Exploiter 7 is still in there somewhere but is this necessarily a bad thing?

Only difference I see is slightly different fonts and obviously the tool bar?

Any other things worth knowing?

Well, yes. Firefox extensions (adblock plus, web developer toolbar, cache status, all-in-one gestures, FEBE, undo closed tabs button). Better configurability in some cases. You can set Firefox's toolbars to be almost exactly the same as those of IE 7.

Firefox uses a different rendering engine, which more compliant with the most widespread standards, making life easier for web devs in most cases.

It's also much faster for me than IE 7.

Bookmarks management is different in some ways as well.

And for those of us who speak English?:eek::lol:

I think I understand - not all bad then eh?

Will go and research all that techhie stuff!

Cheers!

I have Firefox on standby for testing my sites, but I need to go with the flow, and for the time being, my sites report a 93% IE usage (so I use IE which helps spots bugs quicker). Slightly higher than average. This is based on around 6,000 visits per day over a huge range of time.

For the record a lot of the sites do have firefox specific bugs which are on a never ending list of "stuff to fix" :)

Gary.

In my experience, if I do a design in Firefox, it's almost certain to display the same way in Opera, Konqueror and Safari (ok, the last two have nearly the same rendering engine, but still), while I almost always have to use workarounds for IE of any version.

Yup, same! IE is always the one you need to do the fixes for, in my experience.

I use Firefox most of the time, but occasionally you'll find sites which are only accessible with IE. There's no reason you can't swap between the two as required.

Thanks for that CT!

I thought there might be conflict having 2 browsers on your system at the same time...

Thank goodness I'm not into IT!:bonk::lol:

LOL. I'm using XP. If I swap to IE it asks if I want to make IE my default browser - same again when I swap back to Firefox.

The IE tools tab/option is a killer. The only reason you ever need to use IE is where sites are specifically written to display in IE, in these cases just set them (using Tools/IE Options) to always open in Firefox IE Tab.

IE will always remain on your machine, just ignore it.

I'm a huge FireFox fan :thumbs::thumbs:

Now wait until someone here discovers Opera and its nice built-in functions ;)

I use Opera some of the time, so much quicker and slicker than FF, less resource hungry and you gotta love the widgets

Yeah I run Opera too ;) mainly for irc, but usefull browser too. Had it almost as longs as I have had firefox I think, and thats going back a while. Must be time for something else to pop out of the woodwork soon :p
