Hello

I have been looking at a time lapse mount called a MTP-20 made by someone called Movo.

They claim it is programmable when I cannot see how. I have installed Time Lapse pro which also does not indicate in any way how, or whether it can program the mount. Movo state the mount is programmable and I know what that means. I expect to be able to use prepared instructions that can control the mount like tracking the moon, planets or even the sun for example.

There does not even seem a way to string presets so that I can simply leave the mount and spend the evening sweeping Swansea bay.

Considering the price I paid this a disappointment. Unless I am wrong and I am missing something. If I am would someone help me out.

Hi and welcome to the TP Forum
why not pop in and introduce yourself in the hello section.

Hi and welcome to TP

Never heard of it and cannot find any ref to a user guide other than that there is supposed to be one in the box with it.

As for programming/using it? The short video on their website gives me the impression that all the programming its done using the buttons on MTPO-20 itself and there is no active connection with the mounted camera i.e. you have to have some other sort of controller to trigger the camera ~ the head just(?) step rotates and holds position (as programmed) for the camera to take its shots.

You have the user guide, so is my impression correct? The other thing I read is that Movo do not seem to be very responsive to support requests :(

Edit ~ the more I look into it ~ IMO it does not match your expectations, it is indeed programmable but only within the limited criteria of setting its speed of rotation, number of degrees of rotation and I think I read correctly the number of stops in the rotation and the time period of those stops (this latter part was far from clear?) Nowhere did I read that you can connect it to a PC or Mac to set it up with some externally configured pre-sets.

It is a low budget product aimed at a limited usage market. If you need the sort of control you appear to want....then I can only surmise that that device will come at significantly higher price :(

Best of luck sorting it out and enjoying your photography.

PS perhaps something along these lines a Skywatcher Star Adventurer Mini Wifi Pro Pack ???
