Yes
After 3 years in this place, I'm moving home. The current landlord's gf decided to move in... :suspect: so I decided to move out.

I've forgotten how stressful packing is. Of course, I've left it to the last minute and looks like I won't be getting much sleep tonight. :bonk:

I have no idea how much packing I've got left. There's also the stuff in the loft........ and a bed to dismantle which seems like a problem... but not really if I don't have time to sleep tonight.

Thanks to the bank holiday weekend, only one van rental place is willing to rent out the van for one day. Well, 3 hours since they open at 9am and close at 12pm.

The big question is, at what point should I disconnect my PC and tie up all the cables? Also, my 5.1 amplifier and speakers... I'm hoping the music will keep me company throughout the night (which also requires my PC to be intact).

Anyway, I'm just taking a break from packing and babbling on here. :D

Pardon me.

Last thing to pack is the kettle & HiFi , you'll need them as soon as you get in your new place .

I'll have a nice  while you :exit:

the pc comes apart as your on your way to the door for the last time :D

Hope the move goes OK

Good luck with the move! I learned by my mistakes when moving house as the first time I moved, I left everything until the very last minute and was so disorganised - it was chaos - it took forever to get everything sorted and moved. The next time, I was very organised, packed everything in good time and sat back whilst the removal men did everything :D

If you only have the van for 3 hours, I'd say make sure everything is packed well in advance as you won't have much time by the time you've finished loading and unloading the van at each end (also depends on how far you have to travel).

Luckily, I've not got far to go. Maybe 5 miles? :D

I guess I only really need to move the big items like the double bed, desk, bookshelves, suitcases, boxes, with the van. Bits and pieces I can go back and forth with my car over Sunday and Monday.

Yup, I'm totally panicking now.

good luck, and hurry back!

Anybody had an egg with double yolk in it before? First time I've seen such a thing. I cracked an egg and out popped two yolks onto my frying pan. I'm not really superstitious, but I'll take this as a good sign for moving house.

Good luck.

I'm moving house myself very soon... if the imbecilic estate agents ever bother to call me back when they say they're going to, that is.

They've BS'd me three times now and I'm inches away from total sense of humour failure.

LOL. Good luck with dealing with those cowboys, Gfk.

Funny thing just happened, my wardrobe clothes hanger metal thingy just collapsed and everything dropped to the bottom of the wardrobe. I guess it must have been balanced rather finely until I moved too much stuff about. :D

Good Luck with the move (wonder if the PCs still connected) ;)

You'll be OK in the end. I moved about 2 months ago on my tod, from 4 bed house with double garage (filled up) , to 2 bed house with single garage.......now that was a challenge ...lol. Have fun & hope you like the new place

Bet your still finding stuff in weird places :D , I moved 3 years ago & I'm still finding stuff

I was ruthless chucking stuff....lot's of decent stuff went to the tip ;)

Your right though...when going through the garage I could see stuff I had shipped from house to house for last ten years & never used. Took the view, if I haven't used in last 6 months....in the bin

Hi all,
I'm in my new place. Moved most everything except kitchen stuff (except a mug and a jar of coffee I picked up from Whittard's yesterday afternoon).
Of course I set up my PC and sound system first before anything else. Unfortunately, no wired connection to my room. Currently on my work laptop using someone else's wireless. Thanks to unknown neighbour with open WiFi connection.
Moved my clothes in my wardrobe over by hugging a bunch of them and carrying it into my car with the hangers all still carefully still in place, drive over to my new place, and hang them all up.
I really like the size of the room. :) It's so big I even have a little sitting area on one end of the room. I'll have to take a few pictures.

:D

I'm happy. (Though no where near fully unpacked yet.)

Regards,
Kamion

Glad it all went well - it's just down to organising where everything will go now :)

I got some eggs from tescos which were mostly double yolkers....quite eggciting to crack really...think it means you will have twins lol....I just made that bit up, don't panick!!

Double yolkers? See them all the time.
When I break my lowfat diet to have eggs :suspect: we get them from the local butchers, who gets them from a local farm.
Those 6hole cardboard egg boxes never fit, the eggs are too big, the lids have to be secured on with elastic bands. And they're usually double yolkers too. Can't beat good natural grown stuff like that.

Whittards? I was in Whittards in Manchester on Wednesday buying some Irish Cream coffee and some Hazelnut Coffee....This stuff is quite addictive

Glad your move went well

i buy my eggs from the local butchers too and he often has double yolkers, i think my record was 4/6 eggs :D

who knows what they feed those chickens!

is it even legal to chuck someone out so your girlfriend can move in?

anyway, I hope you have a good new-place :D

Well, I'm ok with it. The landlord/housemate is a friend. Either way, it won't be fun living some place where you're not wanted. It'll only be miserable in the long run.

Anyway, I do like the place. Here are some photos:

Please pass me her contact details.

Well, moving's mostly done now. Flying home to Malaysia tomorrow evening for 2 weeks - sister's wedding. I think there was a thread not too long ago regarding tips for wedding photos. I need to go read that up.

:thankyou: for the comments re. my room. :)
