Hi all - 1st post!

I've been a long time Canon enthusiast with a wide range of lenses, but having recently moved almost exclusively to doing street photography I'm trying to make a move to a lighter, more minimal setup. I bought the X100vi and the X-T5 with the 23mm f/1.4 and the 16-55 f/2.8 zoom, which are wonderful and I'll probably sell all my Canon gear in a while. Having said that, I do have the occasional need for long zoom (wildlife, etc) and I was wondering if anyone has expereicen on the X-T5 with long zooms - how does it do? What about in golden hour at full zoom - is there enough light for wildlife with this setup?

Thankyou!
Mark

Hi Mark, welcome to TP.

Enjoy the Fuji, just do not get rid of the Canon stuff in a hurry. OH was gravitating towards Fuji from Canon, and then sold most of her EF lenses and whole Fuji bundle to go Canon mirrorless. Even though she has kept her 5D4 and EF 24-70/2,8 mk2 she has sellers regret selling her EF 100-400 mk2, not finding a satisfactory replacement in RF mount.

She had an XT-3, great camera, but didn't go for anything longer than 250 mm in the telephoto lens department, but I am sure there are plenty of Fuji afficianados who can help you.

Thanks Peter - useful to know.

Actually - Peter do you have OH's username please? - wouldn't mind having a chat with her about her experiences. Thanks.

She's not on here....it's my partner who's into photography but doesn't get involved on forums

There was actually nothing wrong with her Fuji experience, she just wanted to consolidate with mirrorless but preferred to stick with Canon while she 'transitioned' but given the lack of a suitable 100-400EF Mk2 replacement she still has EF kit.

Ah ok gotcha, thanks.

So... I've spent a few months shooting street on the X-T5. Great camera but it has some serious autofocus limitations for street, so I'm changing for a sony setup  .

No she didn't, but I think given Canon's inability to replace the 100-400 EF adequately is giving her sellers remorse.

When I switched from Canon EF to Sony E isntead of the Canon R, one criterial was that Sony has always had a 35/1.4. Even from the start they had the Zeiss, and now the GM.

Canon finally brought out their 35/1.4 R last year, about 9 years later after I switched over. They don't seem to be in a hurry to replace some of their lenses, especially the really good ones like their 35/1.4 L mk2.
