Yes
just another silly lets discuss thread (hope folks dont mind, the great thing is, usually somebody says something that get me thinking about new ways of doing things)

So, do you use your mouse for photo editing, or do you use a graphics tablet and pen.

Which do you use and why, and do you have any interesting tips or tricks.

I have been using mouse, but have just bought myself a graphics tab (a nice 12 inch one) so just starting to learn how to use it. Took me a while to figure out how to get the pen pressure working lol

I started off wth mouse only, but then bought a very cheap A6 Wacom (think it was a Volito)? I've since moved onto the A4 Intuos 3 which is awesome.

But, i also use a mouse in tandem. In CS3 the tablet does about 90% of the work and in all other programmes about 10-25 depending on my mood.

Best tip - set the top pen button to 'Alt' - makes cloning soooooo much easier :)

I use a bit of a combination. Things like dodging and burning I like using the tablet as it's got the option of using the pressure to vary the amount. Things like making selections I prefer a mouse.

Im a mouse-only person.
Ive got my control down pretty good which always amazes my sons girlfriend... she is heavily into 3D moddelling and says she cant live without her Wacom and doesnt know how I do what I do with a mouse.
I think Id like to try a tablet though, I never have, I keep meaning to look into it but Im still so busy feeling my way around CS2, that its just something else on the 'to do' list.:bonk:

Both here too ... depends on the mood and the subject but the tablet is a remarkable toy ... sorry ... bit of kit ... :D ... every 'tog should consider ...

:p

Use the mouse on both the iMac and Windoz Lappy, but when it come to getting in close with the editing, I use the "Wacom Bamboo" works on both systems, and using the pen keeps a shaky hand steady.

I use a mouse but got a tablet for Christmas. Just need to start using it I guess

Tablet for about 2 years now. It is so much easier in PS than a mouse. The advice I was given when I received my Wacom as a pressy, was to first put your existing mouse away in a drawer out of sight. Once the tablet driver is installed you will be then forced to use it and the learning curve is much smaller.

tablets are great things, but only if you intend to be a bit creative... I couldn't mask up selections as well or quickly with a mouse so mine is a god send but they're only really that good for the finer stuff. Mice are usually much quicker to use and you nee to get used to a tablet before it becomes effective.

OMG! I have just noticed my post count :woot: - Whooaa! Sorry Mods for this spam:( Just had to share this with you guys:D

I went the same way. Bought a cheap A6. Was asked what I wanted for Chriastmas an asked for a A4 Intuos 3 and got one :banana:

Must admit they take a bit of getting used to but once you have mastered them they are great.

:D Nice one, you lucky get! I had to get my own!! So i went for the SE cos it was black and came with an airbrush :D

If it aint sexy, what the point lol

Mouse at the moment but I would love to try a tablet. It's on my 'to buy' list, problem is the list runs into several (virtual) pages so it's going to be a long time 'til I get one.

mouse only, tried a tablet and couldn't get used to it so away it went.

Graphics tablet (with mouse for browsing) but the pen for editing.
I have a huge Wacom A3 tablet that really needs downsizing as I don't have the deskspace any more, will have to look into these Intuos3 A4 ones.
I definitely wouldn't like to have to cope without mine though.

Tried a tablet but did'nt like it and gave it to the grandkids, i stuck with the mouse for my editing.

Oh I LOVE my Wacom Bamboo, Its soo much better than a mouse, I use corel painter too, the pressure tip is very good and brilliant for detail work. Price is good as well.

 I can well imagine the size of that beast!! It virtually is a desk!!

will have to look into these Intuos3 A4 ones.

Simply brilliant - big footprint, but nothing wasted

Got a Wacom tablet a year ago and absolutely love it. Packed my mouse away :)

Mouse only for me, plus can use the touch pad on my laptop for most editing. The Mrs uses a tablet for Illustrations so I may give it a go for photo editing just never got round to it, might take some getting used to .
