Hi All

Looking at mounting my own work.

please can you recommend a mount Cutter for A3 prints....

can you give me any advice on blades and suppliers

Kind Regards

JK

I'd be interested in any replies you get but just to say that I buy my mounts in. I really haven't the space for a cutter setup so I get my mounts from a very friendly chap at
http://www.picturemounts.co.uk.
It's so difficult to get the sheets of card to arrive here intact the ready made mounts are the best bet and they can be made to custom sizes. I also buy in frames for the same reasons. I had a talk with a local framer and he reckons a lot of the stock moulding he buys gets broken in transit to him.

Very quickly as I've got to rush. Hobbycraft supply A1 board and I use a Logan cutter (also from Hobbycraft) and it works well for me. They often run short of the white mount board I like to use though.

i would have thought loads of people on here would be mounting there own work...

how much do people usally pay for?

A4

A3

and any other popular sizes

Get the Logan 301s - End of. Its designed specifically for photographers. They are going for around £75 on egay brand new. Its small enough to put away and doesn't take up too much space. As i'm at college doing a BTEC National Diploma i mount all my own work and its perfect. I purchased mine and any spare blades etc.. from here http://www.details.co.uk/productdetail.aspx?prodid=543&prodgroupid=261

Hope this helps you out.

ebay is now a good place crafts/framing and matting

try and get a cutter with a moving blade head like a logan then get a good quality tape preferably acid free (filmplast P or P90 plus) or for the serious Japanese paper and wheat starch. see my advice on mounting here

or do a name search

I have used the MAPED cutter for the past 4 years and am very pleased with it.

Hi, I use a Logan 2000 mount cutter, bought abought 10 yrs ago for £33, must be similar model available now, use it with the Logan "Adapt-A-Rule", which has rubber base so less likely to slip, & safety guide rail, keeps fingers safe, this "Adapt-a-rule" is highly recommended, I can't remember what I paid for it.
Also have a Logan circle & oval mount cutter, good piece of kit but costs around £100
