Hi guys,

I have been asked to go along to a motorcycle club to take some photos of them amd their bikes. I explained i have never done anything like that before but they were still keen.

So, any advice? I think its going to be an evening/ night shoot and as far as i know they will be static.

Can anyone give me any help as to how toget the best shots and what lens? I think they are mostly going to be sporty type bikes not big harleys. I was thinking of using my wide angle but not sure? And what about flash as i dont want obvious flash glare in any of the shiny bits!!

Spend a bit of time scoping out your shoot is my advice.

Find out the time and location of the shoot, go along and take a look at both a prior meet to understand the job and also the same location/time to check out the light levels, backgrounds etc.

Once you have that info, you should feel the pressure is off somewhat.

Alternatively, rock up, shoot in raw and pray to some deity that you can pull it off on the day somehow.

Just depends on how confident you feel and how important the results truly are.

As a keen biker and piccie taker i can say bikers love close ups of some of the sparkly bits especially carbs and shiny exhausts. I also find pics look great taken from low looking up the front of the engine block, also the petrol tanks if all shiny can be great in sunshine.

Would you consider using off camera flash? a simple two light setup could be great, especially if underexposing the b'ground a bit..

I am not sure about off camera flash....i dont really know much about the location at the moment. Its definitely something to consider for sure so thank you.
