Okay... since my last set of theme was way too broad for anyone to comment, here's the theme I'm going for now...MOTION.

Have you got any movement ideas i could use?

I'm think long exposures... not sure what of!

And even frozen motion, like the splashing of water.

So MOTION. anyone?

Just bumping this up since it's all changed.

Oh and so far I've got my dog in motion, and snooker balls in motion photographed. Anymore ideas?

Watch hands can be quite fun for that type of thing, or clock hands and pendulums. Same with fairground rides at night, they can make some great images.

Tommy.

Hi Melissa

The world is your oyster, as most everything on earth moves to one degree or another. The decay of a dead creature, leaves in a breeze, a butterfly in flight, a lightning strike, or a wave goodbye. Find a subject that interests you and go and shoot it using techniques that expresses or symbolises its movement. Just remember that a single photograph is simply a ‘still’ image and therefore you can’t literally show movement, you can only suggest or imply it.

Have fun

I had a great time a while ago playing around with shooting a dancer in a dark studio, using a long shutterspeed to get the flow of there movement, it worked kinda well... *** didnt have a dslr back then, so couldnt really achieve a great effect... but i suspect, with some proper thought, itd be great

well flash, i guess it's just how you interpret it.. your idea of motion could lead to some very interesting photos...

thanks for everyone's ideas so far, you guys are very creative!

Sunsets, sunrises with long exposure....
People moving in the centre of town with someone stationary....
Cars moving through the streets at night....
Water droplets hitting the water

etc etc etc

Find something thats moving and take 3 photo's from a locked off tripod. Then split the colour chanels into R G and B for each photo. Then Combing the R from the 1st, G from the 2nd and B from the 3rd. Gets a result something like this...

awesome ideas people! thebigyin- that effect looks class! ta for the heads up!

joxby, how the hell did you do that? Looks really good! I love how the car is still really sharp though, did you combine a lot of images?

No, its one shot, I think, its a set up tester from a job I did quite a while ago, I don't have the originals and there's no exif in this.
I'm guessing at a 10 second exposure, the car is RC, I moved it, let it stand then moved it again.
You can do something similar with rear curtain flash, but the movement would be blurred rather than staccato.
Did some feathers on the same set I think..:)
