Bust my sole Lee grad and realised the futility of just one grad, so have acquired a 3 stop hard grad and looking for a soft grad, but cat decide which would be more useful. I appreciatte there isnt a huge difference but wondered if anyone would case to suggest which one, as the things are pricey. Thanks!

Ok, have gone for the 2.5 stop, as a compromise.

I use a set of 2 stops, soft hard and reverse grad. with a 1 stop soft grad in back up if need be. Not come across a situation yet where I need any stronger to be honest.

I carry 2 and 3 stop hard and soft grads, a 3 stop reverse grad, 1, 2, 3 and 10 stop NDs. Out of that lot the most used is the 3 hard grad, then the 10 stop, then the reverse grad. My 1, 2 and 3 NDs are basically unused, and whilst the soft grads don't get much of a look in, I'll use the 3 far more than the 2.

Personally I prefer a stronger soft grad, so at the moment I have a 0.9 - but I would also consider a 0.75, but nothing weaker than that.

I've toyed with the idea of the reverse grad but ended up using this same technique, I've found it very effective and cheaper than another filter!

I have a set of hard grads, .3, .6 and .9, most used is the .6. I'm probably going to get a 3 stop soft.

Depends on camera and situation, you're always going to find situations where 3 stops is too dark and others where 2 stops isn't enough. I have a 3 stop soft though I rarely use it these days, on m4/3 that would have been a permanent fixture.

I like dramatic skies, 0.9 is on 99% of time (I should probably sell the rest, I have full set 0.3 0.6 0.9 both hard and soft and only use 0.9 soft).
