I purchased a Jessops 360afd in the sales, and I have been playing with it a bit. However, on almost all of the shots I have taken with it they appear to be blue!!

I have never used a flash before, and I am sure that there is a very simple explanation for this. The instruction do not really give any guidance, and I am struggling to find any further info on the net.

The body is a sony a200, and the lens is a Minolta 50mm f1.7. Is it just that I simply need to reduce the power of the flash?

Many thanks in advance for any help and guidance that you can offer.

What is you colour balance set to on the camera?

As hyster said you must have white balance on Tungsten ???

On most cameras/flash, when auto white balance is set and the flash is turned on, the white balance is switched to flash automatically. Maybe this is not happening with the Jessopns gun. Or you have the white balance set for tungsten light bulbs as mentioned above.

Well done gents, white balance was set on tungsten, and I did not realise this...doh how silly do I feel...

However, a lesson learnt, obviously the reason for being blue is due to white balance settings...

Many thanks for your guidance.

That is what this site is all about....Great help and advise/HTML]

Exactly, and very much appreciated......

If you were shooting in RAW you can probably save the pics -you can correct the WB in PP! :)

next step is when you have another dominant light source in the picture, you can't set the wb for both so if you put a colour filter on the flash to match then set the wb and all the light will be the same. I'm just learning flash at the mo too.
