First time I've tried doing a 365, so wish me luck! I wanted to try and do something with a theme that would challenge me and I think this will do just that!

Having bought a nifty a few months back I've hardly used it, so hopefully this will test me out and help me to explore what I already know to be a great lens.

So here we go, 1st image from New Years Day...

1/365 A bottle shared is a pleasure doubled... by Moskiman, on Flickr

Thanks for the feedback Mick, I played around with a few alternatives in Lightroom but to be honest I was happy to trade off some of the detail in the bottle label - I preferred the darker tones across the rest of the image, it just appeared too light otherwise (plus I'm a PP novice therefore not into stuff like layering and tweaking the bottle alone). Something else to learn this year :)

Me too on the PP front mate,
It's a lovely shot.

Love this! The first 2 are especially amazing, how did you light the jack daniels one?

Off camera flash on 1/64 power just out of shot to the right of the glass, probably about 8 inches away. I'm only just learning to play around with off-camera lighting and there were a few failures before I settled on this one. The nice reflection was simply the result of our black glass table top.

Glad you like it :)

I like both the alcohol related pics - must be something subliminal about it. :-)

I love the fact that you are doing the 365 just with the nifty fifty and i particularly like the composition of the first photo and the lighting of it. I also like the Jack Daniel's photo :)

Lots of luck with your 365 - i'm trying the 52 and i'm struggling a bit already!

liking all thephotos so far.
looking at these i feel like pushing myself to do a 365 or similar.
its even greater that your forcing your self to use just one lens, this will make it all the more harder but rewarding i think.
best of luck

Superb set. I look forward to trying to keep up with you

Really great image, I think that you have done a really great job conveying the warmth of the subject with this shot and the movement of the flames as they lick the rocks.

Also really great long exposure especially as it is your first attempt.

The firelight photograph is great, the tone to the shot is just right and gives the impression of moving flames, really like it :)

fabtastic............ i really must get my nifty used more'

Some very nice lighting work there, especially the watch picture.
Gotta give it to you to stick to a single focal length 365

I agree, there is some lovely lighting work here and the shots make me want to use my nifty fifty more, I think i'm going to be dusting it off tomorrow :)

Great idea for a 365. I'm using my Nikon nifty-fifty almost exclusively at the moment and loving it.

My favorites are the light trails and the water on glass.

Keep it going.

Thanks for the comments everyone, they're much appreciated - especially the ones regarding lighting, as I only purchased my first off-camera flash a few weeks ago :)

I'm hoping that I can get out more and use the lens in more varied surroundings - I'm generally pleased with how I've started, although a few pics look rather "same-y" to me in terms of their aspect and general composition.

I'm only just getting round to checking out other people's 365s, I'm really disorganised :p. I really the lighting in your shots, they all just ooze warmth. 6 and 7 are cool but 11 is just epic :D. What a cool idea :), I really like it.

Edit: I forgot to say I'm als trying to do a nifty fifty 365 :)! I decided that its not a hard and fast rule though because I want to get some good outdoor shots and the 50mm isn't always suitable and I need wider shots. Good luck though!
