I sold an old Manfrotto monopod today and, as is my usual practice, I sent it to the purchaser by Yodel. When I came to look at the details of the buyer I found out that to do so you have to pay for postage upfront and then you can see where they live?????

I came out of that and tried to find out what I wanted another way and finally found a way to do that in the 'Print an invoice' section. I used that address on the Yodel site and took it to our local store for collection tomorrow.

When I got back home I went back on and found out that Ebay had charged me £5.15 for a postage label that I hadn't printed out. Because I hadn't printed it off I couldn't mark it as despatched either and I have now entered a complaint requesting that the money is refunded to my account asap.

Looking deeper in my settings I cannot decline all three of their choices of Royal Mail, Evri and DPD. One has to be accepted.

It appears all this came into play on Friday and is for any item with a value above £20. It is not negotiable.

Be aware when you come to post something off. You'll be out of pocket if you want to choose your own delivery service.

ebay is no longer any good for selling, I rarely even look at buying anything on it now.

I've been selling on eBay since 2007, I'm finding the new system much easier, as I no longer have to sort out any shipping details, I only use Royal mail, once the postage has been paid I simply print out the shipping label, place it on the parcel and Royal mail come and collect all them all.

It’s fine and acceptable for low value items , but not so good if you wish to use special delivery .basically they seem to prefer business sellers over private ones

If you are not happy with ebay why use them ?

My experience is the opposite. I do all of my buying from eBay and Temu, and the charity that I help does very well selling on eBay.

The only viable alternative, as I see it, is Amazon, and they're an expensive nightmare for sellers.
