Very strange just looking on Facebook and someone said about it so I ran out and had a look weird

Look up 22 degree Moon Halo.

It is Ice crystals, can happen with the Sun also....

Yes i can confirm this.
I've only ever seen it with the sun however, sometimes called a sun dog. Moon dog is also used.
With this you can also witness rainbows in clouds but these are part of the same phenomenon.
Just search for circumhorizontal arc in relation to 22degree halo.
And ya. Its ice in high flying cirrus clouds

I must be missing my camera more than I thought 'cos I just read this and immediately thought "but the moon doesn't have an atmosphere" and "why would there be heather on the moon?"
