Is the Manfrotto 681B pro Ok for the Canon 300 f2.8 IS HSM LENS and I've heard not to use a head for footie just attach lens to pod ANY replies appreciated

Its fine, i use it with a D3S, 400mm f/2.8 and teleconverter, no head.

I use mine without a head all the time and its never given me any problems
