Dell U2719D 27" Widescreen IPS LED Black and Silver Monitor (2560x1440)

lot of money so needs thinking abouit first
Any thoughts welcomed

You don't say why you want to spend money swapping one 27inch monitor for another, other than 4k.
In what scenario is 4k needed?
Running a 4k desktop is just going to make everything smaller and harder to see.
If you are editing 4k video you really need a second monitor to display your video output while the timeline is on the other.
If you are talking about viewing high res photos 1-to-1 on it, then the pixels are going to be so much smaller that there will be no real advantage for pixel peeping over using your existing monitor and zooming in to check details.
If you watch 4k content from Netflix/Amazon then you still aren't going to get the best viewing experience because effectively you're watching a smallish tv.
If you have money to spare, then why not. But if you'd have to sell the current one and find additional money in order to get it, then you do have to question your reasons.

I work in broadcasting and I'd say that only half of the industry is interested in 4k and that's those working on high end drama and docs (and half of that is only to future proof the content). The rest of us aren't bothered yet, either for video or graphics editing.

For stills you don't need 4k. Most camera's output beyond 4k so you will be looking at a scaled image anyway. For video -you'll need two screens anyway as pointed above.

I shoot digital medium format and don't use 4k screen.

Alistair thank you for your input. I won't answer point by point but having now a camcorder and a compact camera that has the ability to record in 4k to me it is slly not to take advantage hence a 4k monitor. Stuff netflix and Amazon not interested one bit. For me my video editing suite Adobe Premier Elements 2020 suits my standard of editing after all my vidoes I take are for me and if anone wants to see them on youtube , most taken on my old Panasonic HC-X900m camcorder
This new camcorder records in 4k and 1080p (duel recording) so side by side comparison in the monitor is no problem
For stills my Nikon D810 is on hand
Being 76 years old do I want to ge really deep into the worlds of video? not really this suits me

TBH a 4k screen is nice to look at compared to HD. My XPS screen is close to 4k and is much crisper than an equivalent 1080P screen.

Although the print is smaller strangely enough it is clearer and easier to read

I have a 4k screen on a Dell XPS 15 and I've turned the resolution down to 1080. I use Lightworks for video editing and it is unusable at 4K because all the text and icons are too small to read.

I can edit in lightroom OK except that I can't tell if a picture is in focus because 1:1 hides a small amount of blur.

Have you pulled the plug? Let me know your thoughts , ive currently got 2 x 1440 monitors they are both designed for gaming with high framerates , thought of changing one to a 4k for photo editing ... the pictures just seem to look that little bit better on the macbook retina screen - main reason why i thought of upgrading

I can only say I am more than happy with my new monitor as I intend to shoot stills/videos in 4k as this new camcorder videos in 4K and my Compact does stills in 4K

I'm returning my 4k screen. Apart from the issues around it being a VA panel, 32 inches is still a little small for 4k. Replacement will be a qhd 27 in her.

Personally-that is my view for stills - the line width at 4k at 32inch is just a little fine to judge perfect sharpness at 1:1. I am thrilled with 27inch QHD screen tbh. It's the perfect panel for stills.

The company i got my monitor from failed on the next day delivery (£9.99) . Just had a phone call after I knocked a star off the trust pilot feed back . Just had a phone call sayiing the company is refunding that amount. To me great yes but why advertise something they were waiting a delivery from their suppliers? Doesn't take much to put "waiting stock" on their web site;
