Hi,

I am planning to purchase a new monitor for photo editing (Not interested in Gaming) and after reading all of the reviews, I have a short listed to two; the:

Hewlett Packard LP2475W (24”) and Eizo Flex Scan S2242W (22”).

Both have received good reviews, but I have seen some criticism, by one individual about the quality of text on the Eizo (on the S2231W – similar to the S2242W).

If you follow the link below, half way down, this guy has a heading:

Gargantuan disappointment: Text looks like crap.

Give that my preference is the EIZO, I was wondering whether anyone has had any experience of poor text quality.

Your opinions on both monitors would be appreciated

You might want to look at the evaluation Colour Confidence gives this monitor.

I was looking to add a couple of monitors to my set up and it was the Eizo 2213 I was thinking of including as a secondary. Unfortunately I've not been able to see one operating. Colour Confidence don't keep this model as a demonstration item.

The report you quote does give the model an excellent ratting for colour work, but not for text, which I do find odd

You might want to check the monitor for yourself live, as that reviewer might have a PEBKAC issue with himself. I couldn't find whether he was actually trying to tweak the text with a ClearType tuner.

Also, having smaller pixels makes images and text look better, not worse as that guy states... and you can always make text bigger.

That said, that LCD could indeed have that issue. Which is why seeing it youself it your best bet. He could have had a defective model after all.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, I cannot find a local supplier of the Eizo, for me to view

I still cannot make up my mind; my current thinking is the Eizo as it has a smaller foot print and is more economical to run. What would convince me is if someone could confirm the text is OK:clap:

You could also look for an Apple 23" cinema display, great monitor and superb colour accuracy

I have the HP and its fantastic. Once calibrated the accuracy is spot on.
