Monitor colours

Guys,

I've just purchased a vivitar 22" widescreen monitor running full HD. The monitor is great but wasn't sure about the default colours. In the menu i found a colour setting of sRGB which i believe is a colour standard ? is it wise to use this setting in the hope it's close to most camera's, printers etc ?

You will need to get a hardware calibrator if you want your colours to be accurate. EyeOne and Spyder are the ones to look at, but there's been loads of threads about them.
